First Ship
From Nile Online Wiki
One of the most common questions from new players is "How do I get cedar for my first ship?" Unless the luxury good you make is cedar, finding the cedar you need for your first ship is problematic.
Important Note: Your Exchange will tell you that you need 25 cedar and 25 bread to make one ship. This is true for every ship EXCEPT YOUR FIRST, for which you need 26 cedar.
Method One: Fastest
Scroll the map a few nomes north and south of your city to find your closest neighbours who makes cedar. You are looking for a bundle of twigs on the map:
indicates cedar. Send cedar players a scroll to politely ask them if they would be willing to advance you 26 cedar; as soon as your first ship is built, you will need to send them back 26 of whatever it is you make.
This method is fastest because your local cedar neighbours should be able to ship to you in under four hours.
Method Two: Most Reliable
Ask on the Trade section of the Scribe Wall for help with cedar for your first ship. Most players are friendly and willing to help out; everyone knows your first 26 cedar has to come from somewhere. Someone will eventually take pity on you and send you 26 or even 100 cedar. This may be a gift or they may ask for payment in return as soon as your first ship is built.
However, this person is very unlikely to be a near neighbour and you should expect that when someone eventually does bail you out, it will take 24 hours for their shipment to arrive. This is the standard shipment time for most Scribe Wall shipments in Egypt; everyone else waits that long for their trades, too.
Method Three: Most Expensive
You can also buy cedar using bread from your local marketplace. If the only cedar you can find in the marketplace is from a seller called the Nubian Trader this will be a very expensive way to get what you need - the cost is 250 bread for 25 cedar. Since you actually need 26 cedar, you will need to buy two lots totaling 500 bread. That is an insane price.
It is possible that you will find offers from other players, though, at much more reasonable prices, so it is worth checking - Marketplace deliveries are very rapid.
Note: The Nubian Trader is not a real person... It is a trading character run by the game itself to make sure all resources are available in all nomes, even if the prices are grossly inflated.
