All nomes have two luxury materials. When a player registers and is accepted to Nile Online, the server decides what nome his or her first city should be in-- and therefore, what luxury resource can be mined or farmed there.
A player can obtain new luxury resources to mine/farm by founding a new city.
Some goods, such as perfume and cosmetics, require two (2) raw luxury materials. The other material must be imported from another city. Sandals and sculptures require only one special resource type - sandals require leather, and sculptures need bronze.
Limestone is a special resource that cannot be quarried in your city - it can be only quarried from a monument site. It is used for upgrading your palace beyond level 11 and in upgrading monuments.
