Image:icon_construction.png Construction Details

A player's first city begins with a palace, wheat field, clay pit, reed marsh, and market. There are four other building locations on each of which only the warehouse, temple, exchange, and luxury materials production building can be built.

Three locations are given for the use of Barracks-- these are the archers barracks, spearmen barracks and charioteers barracks.

One building (per city) may be under construction at any one time.

Image:bldg_construction_palace.png

A player can cancel construction that is under way by clicking the "Cancel Construction" button. However, 75% of the resources that are committed to construction are lost.

A player is free to build any shop for the five (5) shop locations within each city. These locations can be used for any shop.

The monument site hosts a warehouse, limestone quarry, and a monument building location.

Image:Icon_city5_s.png Palace

Main article: Palace

Image:bldg_palace_5.png
A palace is the centerpiece of a player's city. A player's palace level starts at 1, with a worker capacity of 30. To increase the maximum laborer population, the palace must be upgraded.

As a player increases his or her palace level further, more goods are required. Bricks are always needed, but other goods are needed at various levels. Baskets, pottery, sandals, cosmetics, jewelry, perfume, sculpture, and limestone are all goods that can be required to upgrade the palace. Click here for palace upgrade information.

Image:icon_pyramid5.png Monument

Main article: Monument site

Building a monument to level 5 requires a great deal of limestone and several days. A monument provides a 1% production speed boost per level for all resources and all cities that a player owns. This boost is additive to the temple blessing. Two level five (5) monument plots will provide a 10% bonus to all of their owner's cities. If a temple blessing is activated, the temple blessing bonus is added to the monument bonus and the total production bonus becomes 20%.

A monument also provides a 10% defense bonus per level (including level 0!) for the units stationed at that monument. A level 0 monument has a 10% defense bonus, while a level 5 monument has a 50% defense bonus. It is at this time unknown how exactly the defense bonus works.

Image:btn_transports.png Market

Image:bldg_market.png

A market is used to sell to or buy from other players, using bread. Increasing the market level by one increases a player's visibility of trade sell offers by one nome south and north. Click here for market upgrade information.

Note: The market level only affects how many buy/sell orders the player can see. Upgrading your market has no effect on how many people can see the goods you're offering; that only depends on the level of their own markets.

Image:btn_transports.png Warehouse

Image:bldg_warehouse.png A player cannot continue producing over his or her goods limits in each city -- a warehouse increases the goods limit. The goods limit amount is divided into several categories: luxury goods, luxury materials, bricks/pottery/baskets, and clay/wheat/reeds. The higher a city's warehouse level, the more goods it can store. Click here for warehouse upgrade and storage limits information.

Note 1: When a city reaches its good limit for a certain good, the resource count in that city for that good becomes orange.

Note 2: As of v.46, a player may send goods by ship or buy goods through the market and bypass the goods limit-- the goods limit only limits production, not amount stored. This is set to change in the future, according to Reed.

Image:btn_transports.png Exchange

Image:bldg_exchange.png An exchange is used to allocate laborers for the production of ships and to send goods between a player's own cities and/or monuments. Each new exchange level increases the amount of ships a city can have ("ship capacity") and increases the amount of laborers that may work on ship construction. Click here for exchange upgrade and ship capacity information.

Image:btn_chat.png Temple

Image:bldg_temple.png A constructed temple allows players to participate in a nome's blessings and donations.

Each nome has a certain Egyptian god as its benefactor. If cities in a nome sacrifice enough luxury goods ("donate") to that god, then the god provides a production speed blessing of 10% for 48 hours for all cities with temples in the nome.

After the 48-hour blessing ends, the nome god then demands 50% more luxury goods. Over time, his demand of goods decreases by 1% per hour to a minimum of 150 goods. The initial luxury good sacrifice demand is also 150 goods.

Any city with a temple may donate towards the nome's luxury good requirement.

Visit the god page to check what goods a certain god requires.
