Talk:Monument sites
From Nile Online Wiki
The monument upgrade page says that an L5 monument has a 60% defense bonus, but the text here says that an L5 monument has a 50% bonus. Which is correct?

Sphinxes and Pyramids
Is there any functional difference between Sphinxes and Pyramids besides the former costing two more Scarabs? Either way, it should probably be noted either in the summary or its own section for the benefit of those (like me) who were wondering. --Biscuitry 15:08, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Cost vs Benefit
Just some thoughts on the 'value' of monuments. I've put it in discussion as it could do with some work before adding it to the main article.
Production Bonus
Assuming an army the size of the original bandits (45 spear-men, 35 archers, 30 chariots; 110 total) then 110 extra bread will be required per hour, which will take 62+ labours to produce.
For the maximum production bonus of a single monument, 5%, to increase available labour by 62 the player would need 1240+ labours. Therefor Level 21(assuming a single city) is the earliest that a monument can 'pay for' itself.
Also note the production bonus only applies to cities not quarrying at the monument.
Transport Bonus
I'm not sure how the value of the transport bonus, in terms of bread or labour, can be calculated. If the ships are in constant use, being sent out shortly after they return, it reduces the total number of ships needed. If the ships are used sporadically or all for one delivery then it doesn't effect the number.
Saving 72 mins on a 24hr trip (5% speed bonus) doesn't seem likely to translate into increased production unless the material being transported has run out.
Lethality Bonus
The lethality bonus seems to mostly be to discourage attacking built up monuments. It is possible that it could allow a smaller army to be used, which would cause the production bonus to break even sooner.
Over all
Don't bother with monuments until your city/cities are large enough for the production bonus to make a difference
